Relocation

Successful candidates must either live in, or be willing to relocate to the Ottawa region. Although we welcome out of town candidates, we do not cover the costs of relocation. Positions are open to Canadian residents only.

Technical Support Engineer

About the Position

Looking to make full use of your computer technical skills with a fast-paced and growing company? If so, read on!

Developing a range of accelerated file transfer solutions for IP networks, we are currently on the lookout for
an enthusiastic Technical Support Engineer to join our team. As a technical support engineer, you’ll work with the sales and development teams to provide pre-sales and post-sales support to our customers and our resellers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Providing pre-sales support, including: demo software installations, assisting with firewall configurations and high performance tuning
• Provide post-sales support to our existing customers
• Duplicate problems reported by our clients locally and submit bug reports to the development team
• Providing technical support to our sales team, including demonstrations and product training
• Assisting customers and resellers with installations and commissioning
• Providing customer application training on FileCatalyst products

Required Experience

• Networking, including TCP/IP, switches, routers, configuring servers and PCs
• Unix, Linux, basic Shell scripting and XML
• Windows 2003 and 2009 Server knowledge
• Basic Mac OSX knowledge
• Web technologies, such as HTTP, SMTP, HTML and FTP
• Working with a technical support web portal (ex: Kayako Support Suite)
• Working with a bug tracking software (ex: Bugzilla)

Additional Assets and Requirements

• Undergraduate (first cycle) university degree
• 2 years of experience in computer and/or technical sales or IT technical support (provide references)
• A high level of attention to detail and the ability to communicate easily with colleagues and customers. This is a collaborative role, so the ability to work well in a team is also key.
• Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.
• You must have in your possession all the documents required to travel to the US and abroad.
• Experience of working with file transfer (FTP) systems is also an asset.

Details for Applicants

Term: Full Time Permanent (37.5 hours per week, occasional evening/weekend)

Salary: $40,000–50,000, depending on experience
